Are you trying to feed your family well… without overspending?

Ever found yourself looking at the total bill from your local farm…
and felt that little twist of anxiety?

You want to feed your family well.
You care about what’s on the table.

But sometimes you wonder,
“How much is too much?”

I’ve felt that too.

There have been many times in our four years of marriage that I’ve been especially grateful for my wife. One of those is how amazing she is when it comes to prioritizing real food in our budget.

There have been moments where she’s come home with groceries, I see the receipt…
and the little penny-pincher in me kind of winces.

That didn’t come from nowhere.

I wasn’t raised the same way she was. I tended to value things like good tech—saving up carefully, choosing the right tool, making sure I got the most for my money.

And it’s not that I was spending all the time…
it’s just where my priorities were.

But over time, something started to shift.

I found myself asking a different question:

What’s going to matter more in 20 years—
my family’s health, or the stuff I bought along the way?

That changed things for me. Significantly.

I stopped feeling guilty about paying a little more for food we could trust, and started seeing it as something we were investing in.

Not that we’re doing it perfectly.
Just in a committed, intentional way.

And here’s what I’ve come to see:

It’s not that we’re spending more.
It’s about choosing priorities.

Maybe it means:

  • Saying no to the nicer vehicle for now
  • Buying clothes at a thrift store instead of new ones
  • Skipping things we don’t really need
  • Or just being more thoughtful about where our money goes

Not because we have to…
but because we’ve decided what matters most.

When I look at it that way, that anxiety starts to ease.

Because the reality is, no matter the short-term tradeoffs…

being able to stay strong, healthy, and present for my kids—
and one day, my grandkids—

that’s worth it.

And if those choices also help me avoid the kind of health struggles that so many folks are facing today…

that matters too.

Besides all that, I want to take care of the body God gave me.

If that’s something you’ve wrestled with too, you’re not alone.

And if you ever want help figuring out where to start, or what makes the most sense for your family…

just reach out. I’m always glad to talk.
